Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the US Military.  Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official holiday in 1971.  Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.

VFW Post 7507 is honored to present the ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Fountain Hills on Monday May 26th at 9AM.  The Post's Color Guard will present the Colors.  Carlos Hadawy, a Navy veteran and Fountain Hills resident will be the keynote speaker.  The Fountain Hills Saxaphone Quartet will also be performing.  Memorial Flags will be placed around the lake to acknowledge those service personnel that gave their lives during our latest conflicts.

Veterans are encouraged to wear their medals and all are encouraged to wear the Red Shirts that have been so popular with the slogan "Home of the Free Because of the Brave."

Buddy Poppies as well as Red Shirts will be available for donation and purchase.

Coffee and Donuts will be served at the American Legion Post for all who attend the ceremony!
